2Chronicles 18
Micaiah prophesies against Ahab
1 Kings 22.1-28; 2Chronicles 18.1-27 Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoshaphat met as allies against the king of Aram. Jehoshaphat wanted the counsel of God and asked Ahab if there was a prophet to seek the counsel of the Lord whether they should go to war against Romoth-gilead. Ahab had his prophets and they did not have the Spirit of God within them. Jehoshaphat asked if there was another prophet present. Ahab said that there was athe prophet Micaiah but he never prophesied any good (in Ahab’s favor). Jehoshaphat request Micaiah and he answered opposite to what the lying prophets told Ahab and Jehoshaphat. The truth was the Lord did not give Ramoth-Gilead.in the hands of Ahab and Jehoshaphat. Micaiah was put in prison for speaking the truth. How many of us would stand up for the truth and pay the consequences?
Ahab was killed by a random arrow, at Ramoth-Gilead (1Kings 22.29-36; 2Chronicles 18.28-34) even though he disguised himself. Ahab’s blood was licked up by dogs as the Lord had declared in 1Kings 21.19.
Chronicles 19
Jehoshaphat appoints Judges.
2Chronicles 20
Jehoshaphat defeats Moab and Ammon (v. 1-30)
Jehoshaphat was the king of Judah (1Kings 22.41-50; 2Chronicles 20.31-21.1) during the reign of Ahab. He was a good king although he associated with Ahab. He walked in the ways of Asa, his father and did right in the eyes of the Lord. He did not remove the high places and the people offered sacrifices and burnt offerings there.
