In verses (1-6) Elijah went to Ahab and told him that it would not reign nor dew in the next few years. The Lord preserved Elijah during this period of drought at the in the Kerith Ravine with water from the brook and bread and meat brought to him from ravens.
When the brook dried up Elijah was told to go to Zarephath, where he met a widow with barely enough for a meal for her and her family, at his request, gave him some of the cake in faith. There was food that miraculously and constantly appeared to keep the widow, her son and Elijah during this time of need. The widow’s son died and Elijah raise him from the dead. What can we learn from this? Even during this time of evil and famine, God knows how to take care of his own. He supplied all the needs for Elijah, and this widow and her son. Philippians 4.19 ‘And my God will meet your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus’
