The Back to the Bible Beginning to End Reading Plan

Today's reading Nehemiah 1-3
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links: Nehemiah 1; Nehemiah 2; Nehemiah 3;

Nehemiah 1-3
Nehemiah was a man of prayer, when he heard that the walls in Jerusalem was broken down, he wept, mourned, fasted and prayed to God. He knew who God was and he knew what man was like. He confessed the sins of himself and his father’s generation. He knew the word of God and prayed it.
He was cupbearer to king Artazerses.

Nehemiah 2
Since Nehemiah was cupbearer, one of his duties was to chose and taste the king’s wine to make certain that it was not poisoned. Thus Nehemiah enjoyed the unreserved confidence of the king. Nehemiah brought the wine to the king but he was sad. The king asked why was he sad. He told him that the walls of Jerusalem was broken. The king granted him leave to visit Jerusalem. In verse 11-20, Nehemiah inspected the walls and found that they needed repairs.

Nehemiah 3
The Gates and the walls were gradually rebuilt.. Details of the walls and gates of Jerusalem are found in the chapter and the Links to Gates and Walls of Jerusalem.
